Thought that I'd use Garuda for my #screenshotsunday. It's pretty vanilla, no interesting or unique configuration. Still, feels like a pretty interesting distro.
@rw It seems pretty straight forward. It's got the typical "Appley" bar at the bottom and upper left menu. Category break down. The version I'm using is pretty eye candy intensive, but it would probably be fine for a intermediate user. It's Arch based, but it's got the software manager and everything is super straight forward to use.
@mike Nice! I have always been interested in Arch, but there is also a limit to my knowledge and desire to tinker. For some things, such as my OS, I like very user friendly. Which is why I opted for Pop_OS! But might give this a whirl when I have some spare time.
@rw Yea, I'm kind of the same. I've experimented with Manjaro in the past, but that's the closest I've come to Arch.
@textovervideo That's the default theme of the "Dragonized" KDE version. There are other themes that are less flashy.
@mike LEGAL MARUJO VAMOS SALVAR VIDAS USE A CRIATIVIDADE PARA ISSO!
@mike Interesting. What's the history behind the hash tag #screenshotsunday? First time I'm seeing this.
@adamsdesk I'm not entirely sure. It's been around since before I came to the Fediverse. I've only been around here for fourish years I think? Just an opportunity to show off your setup or workflow or whatever. Doesn't have to be flashy or anything.
@mike Oh alright, thanks.
@adamsdesk @jawsh It might have also started on Google+. I know quite a few of the G+ crowd migrated over to Mastodon after the doors were closed. @kev might remember better if that's the case. I know they did a screenshot thing there too.
@mike I definitely remember it being a thing on G+. Not sure whether it started there though...
I remember #screenshotsunday being a ‘thing’ before my self imposed exile from the Fediverse.
Now that I’m back I’ll post one next Sunday
@kev @mike @adamsdesk @jawsh
It's here. That's all that matters. I find it very enjoyable and have even learned a thing or 2. I also enjoys Mike's ancient screenshots and wish that I had been prescient enough to save some too.
@mike I love the Dragonized theme but some thing about Garuda didn't "click" with me sadly 😕
@mike I've tried it as well. Interesting tweaks they have here but well... "Unused ram is wasted ram" 😂
I came back to the basics but now I'm running #AlmaLinux It's like #CentOS but a fork who mirrors #RHEL : https://almalinux.org/
@mike thanks for the share. Not a distro with which I was familiar, but one that I will be looking at in the future.
How suitable would it be as a daily driver for a intermediate computer user?
