I think @cfenollosa makes some really good points here, and I couldn't agree more about his thoughts regarding the local timeline. I'm incredibly proud of the community that we've built up here on .

@mike @cfenollosa agreed. I think based on the HN discussions and my personal desire to have a community feel but still easily seeing info from other instances there is potential feature for multiple local timeliness. Iy would be cool to be able to add other instances to your local timeline (without needing accounts on those instances and switching views), a la subscribing to subreddits.

@mike @cfenollosa just to clarify, I love the local timeline. I want the selected subscriptions to other instances in addition to the local and independent of the local timeline, not instead of.

@mike @cfenollosa Very much true, but it also depends on what the user intend to use Mastodon for. Some would just like to follow specific people or organisations and have no intention of engaging with anyone. Those people would/should choose regional instances.

@mike @cfenollosa This is how I use Fosstodon as well. I discover new users either from boosts from the people I follow or randomly browsing the local timeline every now and then when I'm caught up on my personal timeline.
