Gotta say, I was not very happy about having to use PayPal to order the PinePhone

@mcol is there another payment processor you could use?

@jordan31 I was only offered PayPal by the website.

@mcol @jordan31 I had to use PayPal as well, and apparently you can't add foreign credit cards to a US PayPal account. Then it locked me out of my account for "reasons," so I had to reset the password... then add a new billing address...

PayPal can die in a fire.

@projectmoon @jordan31 Yeah it's somehow so incredibly un-user friendly! and what even is its purpose? What does it give? Shops should take my money directly.

@mcol @jordan31 It is not user friendly. However, it is probably merchant friendly. That is, until PayPal decides they don't like you and freezes your money because of one customer dispute.

@projectmoon @jordan31 They were nice enough to let me actually pay, because I don't have an account so needed to check out as a guest. I made an account last year but they wanted a scan of my PASSPORT. Why???? Garbage company.

@mcol

What alternative would you prefer ? Bitcoin ? Not being rude, actually asking.

@PublicNuisance Many online stores let you use a card directly. Bitcoin is a massive chore so it's certainly not going to become the new paypal. Some companies accept bank transfer, some accept cash in the mail (though not appropriate for more expensive things).
