Google AMP is dead! You no longer need to follow any artificial restrictions set by the adtech giant in order to rank plausible.io/blog/google-amp

I believe this is the first time I've ever had a post on the Hacker News front page for the full 24 hours 👀

Just don't let this news be an excuse to add all your trackers & slowness back in!

Not that this is what @markosaric is advising...

@markosaric we just need to figure out how to educate the 6.7 billion people who use Google to use something else instead...

@markosaric it felt like the amp pages was better for the limited LTE speed in German contracts... But maybe it was just a feeling I don't know.

@markosaric
Dead seems to be a bit misleading. nowhere in that article did google state it would stop using the technology of amp. It looks like they just rebranded it and made it worse with Floc.

@SwindlerOfInsanity like it says in the article, the main incentive for using amp is now gone. from speaking to many sites over the last year, pretty much all use it just to rank higher in search so now they can remove it if they want to which they hopefully will

@markosaric why is this notorious? I haven't used Hacker news too much. Did u write the article or did you just share it there? I know it is based on upvotes and such, but still.

@joeligj12 i don't know their algorithm. i wrote the post but didn't share it there. just noticed the fact that it is there for much longer than i experienced it in the past

@markosaric I think I sounded a bit upset or smth. I was just curious btw.
It was a great article tho xD
