TIL that in #emacs, org-agenda-include-diary can be used to display the diary. If you add time to the diary entry (I.E. 7 Oct 2024 10:00), it even displays it in the correct time order in org-agenda!
Maybe org-journal is excessive then.
@marcc I use this all the time for repeating appointments. I could not get org-mode to handle f.e. an appointment every monday in a given range of months except for holidays. But the diary supports elisp rules for appointments, which allows me to have my entire university schedule inside my org agenda.
Other than that and anniversaries the diary isn't all that useful though IMO.
