I'm thinking of buying old HP EliteBook 840 G1 for personal/testing/learning platform. It is 4-5 years old laptop. As I looked it is well accepted software and hardware wise. And diy maintenance is easy. It has i5-4200U proc, 130GB ssd and 8GB ram, bunch of them for around 200EUR/piece. What do you think? Any better alternatives/recommendations? Thanks :linux:

@rudolf @kev That is what I wanted. A few suggestions, where to look for good/bad stuff🙂 . Thanks

@madrox Check what a new battery costs, add that to the price, and then think it over.

@madrox thinkpad all the way. I don’t rate HP hardware personally. Their Elitebooks are hardly elite.
