Wow, just wow.
Tonight I tooted about a little project called Beehive... and apparently you people starred that project on GitHub that much, it actually made it to the list of trending projects today 😊
Even better: a bunch of contributions and pull requests are already rolling it and, frankly, nothing feels more rewarding to a programmer than that.
Thank you everyone, you people are simply amazing! Nothing but love for the community on the fediverse!

ICYMI: ZDNet published an exclusive story by veteran journalist Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols about the launch of the Pioneer Edition #FreedomBox.
"We can, in short, rebuild the internet so that we, and not multi-billion dollar companies, are in charge," says Vaughan-Nichols.

Well, sun is shining so going outside.
To all my transgirls and transboys, to all my agendered people, to all skincolours, to the CIS people, the straight people, the gay people, the asexual people, all genders on the spectrum of genders. To all ages, preferences, fandoms and furry levels, to all interests:
Jesus you guys are not just awesome, but smart, sexy (if you wanna be), cute, ingenious, rebellious. Lets go and make tomorrow look outdated. <3
(had a beer while working feel kinda lovey)
Side note: if you are my ages IE creeping towards middle age like a slug on a cabbage leaf, please please listen to younger people (ethnicity, skin colour, sexuality, gender expression etc)& support the shit out of them! It's our job!
My granddad said a thing about racism I still remember:
"Young people get to do dumb shit, thats the point of being young - but if you're old you've had time to learn and have no excuse being an arse! Never respect age if it comes with a side order of ignorance!"
I'm thinking of buying old HP EliteBook 840 G1 for personal/testing/learning platform. It is 4-5 years old laptop. As I looked it is well accepted software and hardware wise. And diy maintenance is easy. It has i5-4200U proc, 130GB ssd and 8GB ram, bunch of them for around 200EUR/piece. What do you think? Any better alternatives/recommendations? Thanks
We have been quietly working on a NAS setup for the last couple weeks. Details within.
Just read the monthly #Linux #Mint blog, and it's a bit disheartening. Besides updates it very honestly talks about the relation betweens devs and users, negative feedback, and on the demoralizing side of #FOSS development: https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3736
#Mint isn't just a great distro, it's also one of the main portals to the Linux world. I left them a nice message and a donation. Maybe others could too?

Glenn Greenwald: Why privacy matters
If you're an avid open-source user who would love to help advance a project, there's a lot you can contribute whether you can program or not:
Provide constructive feedback, file bug reports, improve the documentation or help out maintaining the web & social media presence. Spread the word and recommend the projects you love to others (btw, I run Arch 😂)
Say "thank you" and tell developers to "keep up the great work". That form of contribution means a lot more than you could possibly imagine.
