#Librem5 users waiting for #PureOS Crimson: Giving money to Purism is not the only option:

I (Peter) for one definitely trust @devrtz

Edit: Fortunately, Purism started reporting on progress, helping me greatly with trusting: https://puri.sm/posts/pureos-crimson-development-report-july-2024/
I have removed the "more than a company distracted by building a robot ;-)" part from the "I (Peter).." sentence with this edit.
@BrianA @linmob @devrtz I'd say it's not about trust but necessity. The final decision which code lands on devices shipped by Purism by default can only be done by Purism - so it won't pan out without collaboration. I guess we want to see at least the bandwidth to continue kernel maintenance plus the bandwidth to review and merge contributions spent there.
(People who don't want to run the default OS have lots of alternatives already).
@agx is your work still paid by purism?
@agx @devrtz Agreed. Don't put all eggs into one basket, and collaboration can always accomplish more.
That said, I'd really like to see some 'transparency' from @purism: Where's the PureOS subscription money going? It does not have to be as detailed as your excellent monthly posts, but something would be really nice.
@linmob @devrtz I don't trust Purism anymore. They shattered my trust when they didn't ship for years, stopped offering refunds, and then putting a cherry on top have all but stopped working on the OS at this point (and didn't do much from the app initiative either). I think the money is far better invested in @devrtz than funding Purism to possibly, maybe, perhaps, one day, to update the phone again finally.
