In order to get LINMOB.net re-added to #Bing (and thus #duckduckgo), a post like this one https://daverupert.com/2023/01/my-bing-webmaster-guidelines-compliance-report/ (see also https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34388962) may help.
Please help me with this, I've started a pad and will work on this over the next few days: https://pad.hacc.space/6ijP0YV2TcmifF-37c9cqg?both#
@linmob
I'm sorry, but when did we cross the road to where we need to change for them? If a site has a description, then they should use it. If not, then use the content.
I remember, a while ago, that search engines didn't care about that as much and the content mattered.
Things like this just bug me. Their job is to crawl websites for content and make it searchable. Now they are holding that random with a bunch of rules that don't help.
@souldessin It bugs me to, a lot, which is why I did not put in much time into it between June 2021 and now.
But: duckduckgo users can't find my posts due to bing being dumb is not their fault. So I need to try and fix it.
@linmob
I miss the old yahoo directory and that construction guy that was always shoveling.
@souldessin I miss dmoz... it's somewhat being continued by https://www.curlie.org/, but ... it looks way to playful for my taste ;-)
@linmob i recently switched to Mojeek as my full time browser and it works surprisingly well. hope this ddg/bing issue gets sorted out soon :)
@linmob I can see linmob.net in our search results - https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Weekly+GNU-like+Mobile+Linux+Update+(50%2F2022)%3A+postmarketOS+22.12+and+the+PineTab2&ia=web . So hopefully this is alrady fixed?
@kdzwinel Thanks for bringing that attention, I asked to add the base URL when I last paid Bing Webmaster Tools a visit, which seems to have worked.
I managed to achieve this once before, so I don't want to celebrate to early ... but thanks for telling me about it :D
