I’m used to do this thing where I edited news stories to take out the guns. So, for example, “Man Killed in Road Rage incident” becomes “Man Punched in Road Rage Incident”.
I would cut out the article and mark it up with red pen to demonstrate what could have been in a more sane timeline.
It was an enormously sad but somehow therapeutic project. Have often thought of a series of browser extensions to make similar points.
When the news was unbearably dark I also experimented with rubber chicken mode. Where the guns in the story we’re replaced with joke shop items and the results were usually more embarrassing than violent. #news #guns #art #broswerextension
