Little update on how I've been getting on with my M1 after 4 months.

Great post 👍

"Preview doesn’t have that feature. If I want to browse multiple images"

You can select multiply images in your folder, and open with Preview, then you can cycle through them. 😊

@lightmat that makes it even worse. Why not just load everything in the folder like every other photo application. 🤦‍♂️

@kev @lightmat works for me. You need to click the button of the correct direction. (for example up/down in a list)

@kev Yo Kev, the Logitech MX Keys keyboard is amazing to me. I love it so much. I also have a RK Mechanical Keyboard to separate worlds but both are great devices that I love using. I have an old MacBook Pro (Late 2013). I have been thinking about getting the MacBook Air M1 too.

@stujr well, if you need someone to convince you not to spend all that money, I'm not the right person! 🙂

@kev I'll put this here before reading, I predict it was great.

@person hmmmmm, I wouldn't say great. More like very good. There are some things that still frustrate me.

@jle yeah, I'm very happy with it. It's a great keyboard.

@kev How do you find your dual-monitor setup working with that Kensington dock? (presumably with DisplayLink drivers installed?) I helped my spouse create a similar setup and I'm worried that it'll be flaky or won't survive OS updates

@firewally in short...rock solid. It's survived multiple OS updates, including the big Monterey update. I just plug it in and away I go.

And yep, it's using DisplayLink.

@kev i use the spacebar-preview (quick look) in finder for photobrowsing.

@kde THAT IS SO COOL! I didn't even know that was a thing - thanks for that really great tip!

@kev @kde I was about to suggest the same 😊 for reference it’s called “Quick Look” if you need to search about it.

@kev I’m considering an M1 or M1 Pro for my next MacBook. The only thing holding me from the M1 is the support for only one external screen when I have two on my desktop. But I objectively don’t need all the power of M1 Pro for my personal use.

Maybe the next gen will not suffer from this limitation, who knows 🙃

@Crocmagnon i use my M1 Air with 2 screens all the time. Just needs a DisplayLink dock. But yeah, out the box only one screen is supported.

@kev oh, i didn’t know some hardware could fix this. Unfortunately I already have a couple of these [1] at home and at the office, and they were expensive enough to make me not want spend any more on docks that I have to 😅

@Crocmagnon urgh, that’s a shame. To my knowledge a DisplayLink Dick is the only way around the limitations.

@kev haha I’ll assume you meant dock 🙃😂🤣
