So obviously pgp is pretty bad [1].

What relatively simple, relatively cross-platform, secure encryption method do you use? For encrypting files locally (no email/messaging).

I've used Veracrypt but managing disks and containers is hard and slow.


@nikolal I've done both too. I basically want to get away from keys but that might not be possible.


I encrypt my Mac file system with Apple’s built-in feature. Private files I further encrypt with PGP, in Emacs, using m-x epa-en/decrypt-file. Works good.
