On August 23, I will do a talk about "everything I know and learned about running and maintaining OpenSource projects for three decades" you know, like my uncurled book: https://un.curl.dev/
Feel free to join me then by signing up below.
Someone packaged GtS for Arch (actually):
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gotosocial
It’s a bit of an older version but it’s still very cool to see!
GYOS is aimed at non-technical people, so it focuses on managed hosting.
If you're slightly techy though, I'd highly recommend these projects. They let you add services to your VPS or home server through simple graphical interfaces:
Yunohost at @yunohost, more info at https://yunohost.org
Libreserver run by @bob, more info at https://libreserver.org
FreedomBox at @freedomboxfndn, more info at https://www.freedombox.org
fedizine is an anarchist introduction to federated social media. It's an actual paper zine! Being released at the 2022 Montreal Anarchist Bookfair... but coming soon to you?
@mtlbookfairunofficial #MTLBookfair
We're excited to shit talk corporate social media, demystify the Fediverse, and help get anarchists off the former and onto the latter...
People reading this are already on the #fedi so you know what's up... But feel free to BOOST and help spread the word!

Nature is so fucking amazing.
More sanity from my home country: Māori tribal leaders & their advisers call for data sovereignty, to take back control of what is theirs. Cited is "an intergenerational approach to data, as a taonga (treasure)"
Self-hosting is included as a strategy, servers at home & on the marae (meeting house).
This initiative can be seen as a form of infrastructural de-colonisation, reclaiming what has been lost to the digital imperialism of AWS, Microsoft & other 'cloud' giants
Today, we start the #yunocamp a camp dedicated to #yunohost and the #internetcube.
We are at La Felicita in #paris. Feel free to join us !
We suggest the remote community to meet us on the chat. Remote contributors can also chat on mumble on https://audio.sans-nuage.fr .

The error doesn't happen with (OpenLDAP) slapd 2.4.59, but it does happen with slapd 2.5.12.
Some excerpts from the log that might be relevant (or might be unrelated?):
- got LDAP_CONTROL_PASSWORDPOLICYRESPONSE (Password must be changed)
- ldap_result() failed: Insufficient access: Operations are restricted to bind/unbind/abandon/StartTLS/modify password
Any #ldap experts who can help solve this bug in #debian? https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=989409
Found a better explanation:
"The extremely high destructive power of such a beam imposes an external dump [...].
Each beam dump absorber consists of a 7m long segmented carbon cylinder of 700mm diameter, contained in a steel cylinder, comprising the dump core. This is water cooled, and surrounded by about 750 tonnes of concrete and iron shielding. The dump is housed in a dedicated cavern at the end of the transfer tunnels."

Another week of heartbreaking letters to the Celsius bankruptcy judge. This is only a subset of the excerpts I'm posting to https://blog.mollywhite.net/celsius-letters/

Cool that the Wall Street Journal covered Nextcloud: Microsoft and cookies https://nextcloud.com/blog/nextcloud-in-the-wall-street-journal-microsoft-and-cookies/
@hostea was created this year by @realaravinth and @dachary with the modest ambition of making #GitHub redundant.
We would like Hostea to thrive as a #Zebra in a post-growth economy. But we are geeks with no sense of business or marketing whatsoever.
Do you know someone who might be willing to team up and make this happen? A person who would bring balance to Hostea with a strong inclination for business development in a Free Software frame.
Boost appreciated 🚀
