justforfun<p>My five year old drew this and now I no longer have an excuse to not have a profile pic here :)…maybe I should commission my oldest to write up my bio 😅</p>
justforfun<p>Hey fedi <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/HomeLab" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>HomeLab</span></a> peeps, what do you all make of <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Protectli" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Protectli</span></a> appliances. Looking to add a hardware <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/firewall" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>firewall</span></a> running <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/OpenSense" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>OpenSense</span></a>, but they have so many configurations. Budget ~$250 at some points would be running non-stop as home office production firewall.</p>
justforfun<p>Thank you! <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.online/@jellyfin" class="u-url mention">@<span>jellyfin</span></a></span> for the collections and playlist features, not sure when this was implemented, but now we can have <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/StarTrekDS9" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>StarTrekDS9</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/FerengiFest" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>FerengiFest</span></a> or KlingonFest or best of <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Babylon5" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Babylon5</span></a>. <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/selfhosted" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>selfhosted</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/SelfHosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SelfHosting</span></a></p>
justforfun<p>Super excited that Bookshop.org is now selling <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/ebooks" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ebooks</span></a> and profits are benefiting local bookshops. Even more excited about this gem burried in the last part of this FAQ:</p><p>“Due to Amazon&#39;s proprietary digital rights management software (DRM) and publishers&#39; DRM requirements, it’s not currently possible to buy ebooks from Bookshop.org or local bookstores and read them on your Kindle. We are working with <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Kobo" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Kobo</span></a> to support Kobo devices later this year.”</p>
justforfun<p>I don’t know how <a href="https://www.changetechnically.fyi/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">changetechnically.fyi/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> made it to my timeline here, but it is an absolute gem of a podcast and I can’t recommend it enough! I’ve now listened to some episodes twice 😊. </p><p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@grimalkina" class="u-url mention">@<span>grimalkina</span></a></span> and company thank you all so much. justforfun<p>Hello <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>diy</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/diy_electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>diy_electronics</span></a> peeps that work with <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/LED" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LED</span></a> panels or small matrix boards. I am looking for a simple but capable LED and microprocessor kit to introduce k-6 kiddos to electronics and have a fun device in a classroom. Any advice? <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/foss" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>foss</span></a></p>
justforfun<p>I know this is probably a rather ambitious 1st time electronics project for me and my kiddo, we have so far only done the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/RaspberryPi" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>RaspberryPi</span></a> advent calendar a few years ago, but this is what I’m looking to do. A micro controller w/ 2 sets of humidity and temp sensor that will be placed in a small terrarium. No need for display initially, but need to log measurements at user specified intervals &amp; push to file or db. Can provide more details if needed. Thoughts? <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>diy</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>electronics</span></a> tagging <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@drfootleg" class="u-url mention">@<span>drfootleg</span></a></span></p>

Does any body have any experience or thoughts on using these airflow plates from AC Infinity? amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B075VFFMFL/… If you can recommend a soirce other than Amazon that would be great.<br />Reposting publicly:)</p>
justforfun<p>Looks like I’ll be signing up for <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/bugzilla" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>bugzilla</span></a>, I was able to search through their reports and found this has been reported as recently as this May, but not reproduced. Once again, thank you <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.online/@thunderbird" class="u-url mention">@<span>thunderbird</span></a></span> and a shoutout to <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://layer8.space/@killyourfm" class="u-url mention">@<span>killyourfm</span></a></span> who’s recent work and efforts on their marketing team got me to reinstall and make it my default client once again.</p>
justforfun<p>I do feel like there should be some kind UI prompt to let people know that this may be a required step. This issues goes back over 3 years, I&#39;ll have to check if it&#39;s considered a bug, perhaps this could be my first FOSS contribution. </p><p>You are welcome to point out that I shouldn&#39;t be using gmail and I make every attempt in my personal life, but G-suite is practically inescapable if you are in the U.S. education system and most of the organizations I work with.</p>
justforfun<p>I really appreciate <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.online/@thunderbird" class="u-url mention">@<span>thunderbird</span></a></span> and all who make it possible, thank you. This post is to help others that may run into issue when adding new email accounts which use OAuth2. I couldn&#39;t add a gmail account until I temporarily allowed <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Thunderbird</span></a> to accept cookies, once the account is added, disallowed cookies in the settings. This is documented here by another user and all credit should go to them: <a href="https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1335435" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">support.mozilla.org/en-US/ques</span><span class="invisible">tions/1335435</span></a></p>
justforfun<p>Comments, tips welcome from the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/HomeLab" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>HomeLab</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/foss" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>foss</span></a> , <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>diy</span></a> folks and all. I saw this cabinet at my local <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/thrift" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>thrift</span></a> store, thinking of converting it into a data cabinet. Will need to add ventilation, but it’s solid, cheap &amp; has a lock (need to keep junior engineers out). I don’t have much hardware yet, but will eventually add 24 port switch, a NAS. For now plenty of room for a pair of <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/optiplex" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>optiplex</span></a> es and MacMinis. Still deciding on protectli w/ <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/opensense" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>opensense</span></a> or <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/pfSense" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>pfSense</span></a> appliance Thanks all 😊.
