Gnome on phones? Proper? Damn nothing got me excited like this in a long time. Gtk4 apps with libadwaita look great on phones by default. Tools like Gnome Builder and Workbench are getting ready for prime time. There are more and more great apps built for Gnome every day and the team just seems to never stop. The biggest problem we are currently facing is hardware support but just like on desktop it will probably be a very slow ride. Still this is awesome!!!

A question for the #python developers out there... Have you upgraded to #Ubuntu2204 or #Fedora36 ? How has your experience been?
I tried Ubuntu 22.04 and I'm having a lot of issues with virtual environments, I might need to downgrade or switch distros altogether 😕
apparently my elderly neighbor has been maintaining a personal website about the history of UK photography and it is an incredible piece of work.
apparently he still uses some piece of adobe software from the 90s. there is so much care and effort here, and its such a pristine image of the early web being still updated 😭

Excellent post-mortem on the influx of users to Fosstodon after Elon Musk bought Twitter (or tried to?). https://hub.fosstodon.org/elon-twitter-post-mortem/
One of the unexpected joys of the fediverse over other places is the addition of weird domains appended on to everyone's usernames.
It makes the web feel like more than just four websites again.
It's both a signal of a smaller more intimate internet and also a larger and far more diverse internet at the same time!
This kind of success is as exciting as it is terrifying. Nobody prepares you for this. Every moment I am second guessing if I’m doing everything I can with the given situation.
Google moving away from the open APK format to a proprietary Android app format locked to Google Play.

I've bought a domain name on impulse and now I'm in over my head trying to pick a web host.
HostGator looks good, but I'm wondering how much control I'll have, and I don't know if the price is actually reasonable. On the other end of the scale is Amazon with it's software suite... Complete freedom to screw up in every way imaginable and potentially also expensive?
All I want is to host a website and some emails for now but it would be cool to run a few web apps in the future.
I've transitioned to using #duckduckgo as my primary search engine and I haven't looked back. It's so much better than I remember!
I'm tempted by the Amazon Fire tablets... But there's no way I'd want to keep the stock OS on them. Are there any notable OS ports out there for those devices? #ubuntutouch perhaps?
Hey #Fediverse. When you post pictures, please please please with puppies on top fill in that description box for the visually impaired. You will be helping us out tremendously. We want to enjoy your pictures as much as others do. You don't have to write a novel, but just fill in some details.
Thanks with much love:

Has anyone had an opportunity to develop on a de-centralized platform? I'm thinking of playing with the #IOTA API, is there anything else I should keep an eye on? #blockchain #decentralization
