Hi folks! 9 years ago (to the day), the late Aaron Swartz made the first commit to SecureDrop, which was then called DeadDrop. Today the project is used by >70 media orgs around the world.

It's an open source whistleblower submission platform that uses the Tor network to protect source anonymity. We're also working on a next-generation integrated workstation for journalists based on Qubes OS:

We're happy to be here!

@Gina If you thinks that's bad, wait until you add in monitor stand.

i agree with the publishers on the emergency library case but i still kinda hope the IA wins.

does that make me a bad person?

@poiuytrewq I realize I'm in the minority. I guess I should make it known that I only use DEs that I can quickly configure to have the classic windows ui or close enough.

So it goes right over my head when someone complains about things looking dated :)

@poiuytrewq i wouldn't leave linux for any of those though. i just try them out on real hw when the release.

@poiuytrewq there is menuetos

i don't understand what people mean by "seems dated". or i don't see that as a negative. i have found precious little usefulness in new desktop paradigms to warrant the rearrangement of things.

so i really don't get it. i also don't get it when people say things like, "i can't use a kde application because i run some other de and it doesn't look integrated".

i'm like, "the applications still work great. that's all i want them to do"

@poiuytrewq well the hit r1 beta one in 2018 and now r1 beta2. i think they're picking up steam! but this coming from a guy who's been installing reactos on real hw since it had the old name, which i can't remember now.

i used to joke about which project i thought would hit v1.0 and if it would be before i die. still not sure which will hit 1.0 but i'm pretty sure it will be after i die.

checking out haiku r1 beta 2. so far so good. that means wifi worked out of the box box :)

@normandc it's supposed to be only a low level better keyboard. but typing on this is so much better than my other keyboards, i don't know i could handle the feeling of typing on a high level better keyboard.

My current best keyboard. Same dome and slider switches as some models of Dell quietkey.

@Horizon_Innovations But also, I don't know what you mean about these being fine. They are like any steel cut oats i've ever seen.

@Horizon_Innovations Nevertheless, it doesn't cook in 3 minutes. Moreover following the instructions on the package takes more than 3 minutes regardeless of which on you follow.

So how can the front label shout, "COOKS IN 3 MINUTES"?

Starting of Monday with an anxiety attack

@Gina Link, please.
