I've been playing newly released wow classic for a couple of weeks flawlessly on Manjaro. Some have been saying that KDE is not that great serving games but I have had nothing but great performance.

@iah KDE gets a lot of bad press for being heavy and slow, but to my understanding it's suppose to be lightweight. I should maybe do some testing myself. :)

@hund @iah 4 had a bad rap for being a resource hog, which was true in the early 4.X releases, the later ones were not as bad (but still in no way "light").

Modern Plasma is very optimised and lighter on resources. Anyone who says otherwise has not used modern KDE

@hund @iah I have not used KDE since Suse 9 in 2006. It felt awful. Not sure if it was Suse or KDE but something was not right. You know, these ideas remains even thought I know they must been improved a lot in 13 years.

@goldbrush you haven't used it since 2006? You should really try it in a vm or on real hardware if you are able to. Vms do not make it justice. @hund

@iah I wrote to you on XMPP today, if you still use it?

@iah I recently switched from KDE Plasma to i3 (which is *very* light). I haven't noticed any change in gaming performance.

@maxigaz yeah, I can imagine that. Not using KDE has been (earlier) for a smoother experience. But I have never had a bad experience with it.

@iah Yeah I played it on Xubuntu with wine and it worked great - was fun to remember the original WoW. :)

@iah I subscribed for a month while on paternity leave. Maybe I will re-subscribe over the holidays. :)

@funnylookinhat I subscribed for 6 months. But haven't played that much. I have a family as well. Three kids and a wife demands time 😂

@iah Haha same here... We have a 3 month old and our hands are full!
