"Alex Hutchinson, creative director at Google Stadia, has caused a storm by saying streamers should pay developers for playing their games."

@hund If it is true that the copyright holders of computer games have the same opportunity to demonetize like copyright holders for music and film I dont see what the problem is.

I think there is something to be said about what kind of game it is. A game like CS:GO or Warzone I think it is basically just free advertisement, but if you are streaming a full playthrough of a game with a heavily story driven game like God of War or the Walking Dead, then it is not that different from streaming a movie in my opinion.

But all this should be up to the developers/copyright owners.

@bjoessi This is nothing like streaming a movie. A livestream with an entertainer/gamer playing a game is so much more than the game.

People who like to play games won't stop doing so just because they can watch some person via the Internet. Playing the game and watching someone play it are two different things. :)

@hund I agree it isnt exactly like streaming... but a game like this where the story is the main part of the game... I could see why the developers would mind if someone else making money on this kind of content.

@bjoessi I respectfully disagree. :) For me, this is like they want to forbid livestreams of Dungeons and dragons, because if you can watch others play it, why would you buy the game and play yourself with friends?
