Valve hires KWin core developer Roman Gilg for gaming-related XServer and KWin improvements. Roman seems to have a ton of cool projects in the pipeline, and this makes me happy. #KDE
at this point im quietly waiting for the shift from 'making the life of nazis harder' and 'punch a nazi', to many forms of abuse, and then pitchforks and torches and calling for genocide as a 'moral obligation'. there is simply no other end to this crazy path these people are going. you are just cowards for not looking who you are and admit that you would be happy if someone would come and kill all the supposed nazis for you.
I will stop here with #Gab by removing the block feature inside the app in the next release.
- I didn't receive a reply from Google policy team about a potential ban of the application.
- Without the previous risk, I clearly think that's not my role. I can't hard-code instance blocks especially when every tools are here for that.
- If you want a strong block, it's in the hands of social network developers or your admins.
Let me just be more explicit: if your software cannot be used by nazis then your software is not free software.
This is not the correct place to fight hate speech. Block the instances. Report hate speech to the authorities. Settle it using the existing legal frameworks to do so, and if they are insufficient, then write to your lawmakers.
But if you support free software, it is not the place to address this issue, by definition.
