That reminds me of the biggest "dumb, but it works" hack I've ever heard of. The USSR had a televised talent contest and wanted everyone to vote on their favourite performers. But the phone system wasn't up to the task, so they had people turn their lights on to signal approval, and off to signal disapproval. Then the power company measured demand to judge the winners.

Gentoo is not the domain of Arch sensibilities. It is not the property of the most awful people humanity has to offer.
It is for all of us. There is space for everyone to have healthy community that actually edifies and brightens our lives rather than make it worse.
Many people who just so happen to be Arch users do not believe that and they specifically target people like me to ruin our experience and sour the well.
But they cannot stop what I'm doing. They can't stop what we are building
I was wrong about Google and Facebook: there’s nothing wrong with them (so say we all)
It’s always difficult admitting you’re wrong. But sometimes you have to in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. So, today, I admit that I was wrong about Google, Facebook, & surveillance capitalism in general being toxic for our human rights and democracy … it simply cannot be true given how they are endorsed by some of the most well-respected organisations in the world.
