Hi 👋, I’m Henrique (he/him), a Portuguese 🇵🇹 guy living in The Netherlands 🇳🇱. I’m a software engineer 🛠 who cares about the web, decentralization, identity, user agency, and making impactful tools for developers and users. In my spare time, I enjoy cycling, taking photographs, programming, or a nice cup of coffee or tea.

The 572 meter long Sint-Annatunnel in Antwerp opened in 1933 and it is 31 meters deep. The wooden escalators are a marvel to see.

More iconic even, was the visit to the Transport Museum Shop. Yes, to the shop and not to the museum itself. Sadly, we didn’t have time to visit the museum yesterday. I would say that this shop is quite dangerous for me since I like everything transit. I ended up buying what I think is the most iconic souvenir I could get: a pillow with the same fabric as the seats of the trains from the Elizabeth Line! I love it

Yesterday, we visited the Harry Potter Studios. Since it was quite far away from the center, it took some time to get there, and consequently most of the day. It was worth it. It’s one of those one in a lifetime experiences to see the actual set of one of your favorite franchises. And the butter beer was delicious 🍺!

Soon, when the weather starts warming up again, I’m surely going to miss this sort of days. To be honest, I already do as they’re not very common around here.

Does anyone know?

I think I now realise that working on open source projects full time was actually something I really valued. Working on closed source stuff where you reinvent the wheel instead of using from the community and giving back is... I don't know... not the best feeling.

Deutschland: let's make double nationality a reality and naturalisation requirements that actually make sense.

Nederland: let's keep a ban on double nationality, make it worse, and increase the naturalisation time from 5 to 10 years, no matter the language level (min. B1).

And I thought NL could finally look at the neighbouring country. This is based on the newly coalition accord. When is it going to happen? Who knows.

That being said, u do still prefer the slightly colder summers in the Netherlands. It’s now 16C and the sky is clear. Barely any wind. This is almost perfect weather. And I will take a walk to appreciate it. Even now, when I visit Portugal, I do go for a walk in my parents hometown. I would rarely do that while I lived there. It was a given, not special.
