My son is amazed that an eight year laptop can run so smoothly as he completes his school work. He definitely likes Manjaro and the KDE environment. I think it is important he experiences free open source software and what tasks can be completed on a Linux machine. #foss #linux #manjarolinux #KDE
Any #opensuse users 'round these parts?
I'm thinking about switching away from Solus and #tumbleweed seems like a great choice on paper.
Rolling release, loads of packages with Packman, YaST for when you just want a GUI.
Would be great to get my partner on something manageable too, maybe Leap.
A dig on the domain MX record is showing the right info, but waiting for the service to see those changes.
Waiting for propagation is a nightmare 😒.
🎉 Welcome to newcomers! 🎉
A few personal tips:
👌 the Fediverse is NOT twitt*r! enjoy a more relaxed, courteous, benevolent way of interacting! you are part of it!
🤚 introduce yourself! also fill bio and post a couple "toots" before following people to have more chance they'll follow back..
👍 favourite and follow generously! This is how to create link around. No algorithm-god is spying on you, telling you who to follow, what to read! \o/

An interesting read on what Elixir has been upto over the last 10 years and what may be next: https://dashbit.co/blog/ten-years-ish-of-elixir
I don't understand a lot of it, but I've always kept an eye on Elixir. There's just something about it that shouldn't be ignored.
Having a browse through the F-Droid apps and stumbled upon Dawn for Reddit (unofficial client for Reddit) - https://f-droid.org/packages/me.thanel.dank
I have been using Boost, but as Dawn is on F-Droid, I think I'll give it a bash for a week.
Anyone else just it?

A good favicon can give your site a little more personality and flair.
To make a simple icon pick two colors, a Unicode "geometric shape" character, and a simple shape (square, circle, or rounded square). The simple shape is your container in one color and the Unicode character is centered inside in the other color.
Now your site has a unique visual identifier (with the right meta tags it will show up here)!

Platform agnostic #SysAdmin by day, but #OpenSUSE has my ♥️. If there's a problem, I like to try and solve it with #FOSS.
Happy to discuss the management and deployment of #Windows and #macOS.
An #ultrarunner, #cyclist, all around average #triathlete and #Ironman the rest of the time.
I have a keen interest in #Privacy and getting started with #hamradio.
