@garritfra Very well summarized and explained! This is something worth showing to curious people.
@taamas I intentionally wrote this for people who have never heard of us before, so feel free to share it!
@garritfra nice post. Sharing this with my family 😉 it's always funny to show them another option.
@c00kie Glad to hear that your family is open for new endeavors. My family would probably look at me weirdly, if I showed them this article.😅
@garritfra I'll surf on the #goodbyewhatsapp wave ;) they already installed Signal and dad became interested in privacy
@garritfra wow! Loved this post!
And now I have two questions:
1) Could I translate it to Spanish to post it in a Facebook page? People over there should read something like this
2) So, I could follow a Pixelfed account from my Mastodon account? I didn't know that! 🤯 How that works? The accounts from, lets say, Pixelfed, appear on the Mastodon fediverse feed? How can one know what type of account is each one?
@dredstrauss
> Could I translate it to Spanish to post it in a Facebook page?
Oh, definitely go ahead! Every exposure someone has to the fediverse is a win IMO. I'd love to read it, but my spanish is very bad.😅
> So, I could follow a Pixelfed account from my Mastodon account?
This boils down to the very nature of the fediverse. Every type of service implements the ActivityPub protocol, which essentially is a unified language between every instance.
@dredstrauss Someone said that the fediverse is like a town-market full of people. Everyone speaks the same language, and everyone is offering different products.
@garritfra Got it! I actually was just reading about it here: https://write.privacytools.io/paulakreuzer/the-fediverse-for-the-advanced
Thanks!
@garritfra
There you have :D

(I'm trying to convince more people on those social networks to join the fediverse)
@dredstrauss Oh nice, thanks so much! This really helps spreading the word.
@garritfra excellent article given what has happened to Gab and Parler. 👍
@mbrumbelow thank you, I appreciate it!
@garritfra Amazing post!
Totally agree with all the reasons you expose there
@linkleps Thank you! :)
@garritfra just a heads up, the link from the home page directs to different article.
@tolmie which link do you mean?
(I just switched the design of the blog, maybe that fixed it)
@garritfra that must have fixed it, is all good now. 👍
@tolmie must've been a copy paste error then. Thanks for noticing!
