This may get me a ton of crap but basic analytics are useful and nice to have and I think if you deny that you probably lie to yourself. The issue comes when these analytics get abused and expand beyond the necessary dataset like most common analytics platforms, cough Google cough. I look for a decent solution for myself right now and that with very little success but came across Plausible.io today and it seems perfect! anybody here with any experience using it?

@gamey I don't know Plausible and will take a look, but I've used Matomo in the past and it was pretty good.

Pro Analytics

@Jojonintendo I have used Matomo before to but it honestly simply collects to much for me and to personal. This seems like I could essentially publish my analytics page using it but still get useful stats.

Pro Analytics

@Jojonintendo It also appears to have a bigger focus on the light weight aspect which I always appreciate !

Pro Analytics

@gamey I use Plausible for my site (not that I get much traction but I wanted the experience of setting up/using it) and I've got to say, it's a pleasing interface with simple metrics that are easy to understand.

And a shoutout to the creator, @markosaric, who shares a lot of good content here!

@gamey No problem mate, happy to help!

On a side-note: I've just seen your blog post about Reddit clients for Linux Phones and I'll be checking it out as it's on my list of "things I want" for my Pinephone build!

@stuts Hope you enjoy it! :D

Pro Analytics

@gamey I use GoatCounter. It's simple, only collects the basic information and it's not a privacy nightmare for the user. Can be selfhosted and you can export your data.

Pro Analytics

@dylanvanassche Never heard of it but I have to check it out, Thanks!

Pro Analytics

@obsolete29 There certainly doesn't seem to be a shortage of actually good analytics tools! I will make sure to check it out to :D

Pro Analytics

@gamey Half the users block it. The data is more worthless than your httpd log files.

Pro Analytics

@gamey For me it's all good if the data never leaves the analytics server, and never reaches Google's hands. But there's no way to know that for sure when you're browsing some random person's website.
