It's an election year in Germany, and I thought there could also be a hype about German politics :-) (because US politics is of course always in the spotlight). But Germany is also a major country and since I live here, I have decided to write about German politics in English, in small opinionated pieces. So here is the first one about today's election of the new chairman of Merkel's party , who now for better or worse has a good shot at the Chancellery in September 2021

My take on the FB-Twitter-Amazon banning Trump/Parler. +point: take one site down, people will just move to a new one. These sites and services can also be hosted in other countries. Wouldn't it be easier for law enforcement to infiltrate and monitor already established "safe havens" (Parler, 8chan and the sort) for radical activity, than having to always adapt and figure out where they are off to next? Would be interested to read some knowledgeable commentary on this.

Made a new minimalistic blog using Jekyll to post about current topics that are too long for a toot :-)

I was hell bent on solving this with docker and a reverse proxy because I didn't want to install all the dependencies. It was more difficult than I thought, but worth it. Now I can post by uploading simple .md files from my laptop or phone. It's a lot of fun!

Any other Jekyll fans out there?

Cancel culture is rampant these days (especially on FB, Twitter, YouTube)
For me the most thought provoking question in the long podcast is: how good are you at spotting propaganda when it's in line with your own world view (people are generally good at pointing it out when they don't agree with it)
