Listened to a recent interview with Jack Dorsey and all these years later and he's still complaining about 3rd party developers on Twitter. He said all of Twitter's problems were due to 3rd party developers using their API so it made him not want to create an API for Square. It explains a lot about how Twitter has treated developers over the years.

@gabek that makes no sense. I understand the feeling about the Twitter API. I can see that as a mistake if you want to monetize Twitter and control the amount and what ads show up. And there is also the data that you can gather like Facebook.

But when it comes to Square you need an API for people to use it as a payment platform. It is not about collecting data that can be sold.
