Mopidy is great - but it's clearly meant for someone who has their music collection stored locally. I was able to find an extension that supported youtube-music - but realistically it's not nearly as good an integration as the real client.

I know I'm the lone one out here for using Google services for stuff - but 🤷 - going solo is a time commitment I can't float for a while.

I think I'll just be on the lookout for Google to release a Home device with audio out to get the barn wired up.


Ironically - the one crappy collection of MP3s I do have will sit on that mac mini, and I'll probably listen to it through VLC over NFS for now.

I've got some other interesting ideas for that box in the meantime as well...
