What if instead of forking FOSS projects to remove telemetry, we would fork them to add hyper-telemetry: state-of-the-art AI to predict and send future usage patterns before they happen, guess user feelings (and map them to emojis), report potential crashes of the applications?
Would that be easier to maintain feature-wise than a fork without telemetry?
I think that could be fun for everyone involved.
Directly paying artists either via services like Patreon or by buying their albums/merch (especially on good services like Bandcamp and not exploitative ones like Amazon) is worth more to them by a wide margin than streaming their songs literally a million times.
RSS search folders in Thunderbird:
- Open the page for your Feeds account (click on it in the folder tree).
- Click "Search messages".
- Add some terms for Subject and Body.
- Make sure you have "Match any" selected.
- Click "Save as Search Folder" (at bottom).
- Make sure you choose the new search folder to be a subfolder of some other account (e.g. Local Folders).
You will now be able to track topics across feeds.
There are some problems and quirks, but still nice.

Word on the street is that YouTube is suspending people's accounts for posting mildly spammy comments (emojis supporting their favorite youtuber) around YouTube.
The real news is that they're also closing their Gmail accounts over this. I still get a lot of email from gmail.com, even from technology people. The clock is ticking, folks.
