hey folks, anyone have tips on how to navigate a world of having to completely use separate hardware for work things and non-worik things?
or tips to remind oneself to check the other device (phone, laptop) so you don't forget to do something?

i wanted to code more this year, so i've been trying to automate a few checks at work.
So, I wrote up a few python scripts. Oh, can't get a server to run them.
Fine, I'll run them on my computer. Oh, can't leave my work laptop on constantly.
Ok, so now the alternative is to rewrite everything as google app scripts.
Oh, there's execution limitations and sometimes these scripts don't trigger to run.
And now it's just a calendar with 21 daily reminders for someone to check.
I ended my week with inviting one of my favourite Pythonistas to keynote PyCon US.
I am beyond excited.
Tickets are on sale and the hotel packages are a great deal!

It turns out there's a few python libraries out there to control roku devices via local network.
So happy to say I used my python skills so I can auto-login to all 15 CBC News Fast channels really quickly when I'm monitoring on my 16 hdmi input multiview from aliexpress.

Temporary(?) display name change courtesy of @webology. Let this serve as a reminder to go enroll as a member of the Python Software Foundation, the Django Software Foundation, and any other community organizations you qualify for (and will actively participate in -- this part is important). https://www.jonafato.com/2024/11/06/psf-and-dsf-membership-application-links
And if you're like me and spending the last 49 hours before the #pyconus25 cfp closes attempting to write a proposal, here's a nice video from last year with some useful tips!

What a great way to wrap up our #Python #Conference by taking some time to analyze our mental model of the world and code around us!

Some parts of the Zen of Python contradicts each other. They can't be used to end arguments, but can be used to start arguments.
You know you both lead busy lives when you finally meet your fellow pyladies Toronto organizer in person, at a conference, in another country. Nice to finally see you in 3D, @jesstemporal !
