GNOME 2 on Debian with Iceweasel, gEdit, and GNOME Terminal from 2008. 
This was my dual-monitor desktop setup when I was a sysadmin at UCSD, and would remote desktop into Windows to support Exchange and Novell servers.

@ecliptik I LOVE the way this looks. I loved the way old GUI applications were styled (I know you can kinda get there with theming but it's just not the same)
@ecliptik Dang, MATE didn't change all that much since than huh. All though there are more modern themes for it now, I like this classic look tho.
