Metatext fixed icon placement which, for me, makes it the best client on iOS

I'm either imagining it or VScode has changed how it handles scrolling. It feels off on macOS, like it is not honoring any sort of acceleration settings, or at the very least it is adding additional speed to scrolling when it shouldn't

If your setup instructions include "sudo chmod 777" I'm going to have a hard time trusting the rest of the project.

I’ve asked about this on that other service but didn’t get any responses. Anyone familiar with using with ? I would prefer to use ProxySQL over the usual hyperdb for load balancing.

Surprised how many people are picking active avoidance. Why?

How important is it to you that Docker images support multiple architectures? (amd64/arm64 minimum)

Honestly the hardest part about my career is trying to explain what I do.

Results are leaning heavily towards using just a deployment system.

As always it depends, but In some cases I prefer using some packaging format like RPM or Docker images to deploy the apps. This allows me to install the software on systems not necessarily connected to the ci/cd system as well as tap into native to the format functionality like rollbacks.

Scenario: You have a custom in house app that you need to deploy to different servers, maybe a staging server vs production server. Do you:

I also make very heavy use of some Apple ecosystem features like copy/paste and texting between devices, password/focus/notification/setting syncing and a host of other little things that exist on Apple and work well.

I very rarely, if ever, have to wonder why my audio isn't working, why apps are rendering weird on hidpi screens with scaled resolutions or struggle with apps. This isn't necessarily a knock against Linux desktop systems, it is just that I spend my entire day solving problems and the last place I want to continue to do so is my desktop system.

I have to admit something. I really really like as a utility system, a server, docker image...that sort of thing. Give me a Linux system as my desktop/daily driver and I'm gonna nope outta that real quick. 2/3 of my career has been making websites hosted on Linux go brrr but I use a Mac as my desktop because it gives me the perfect blend of Unix OS with a desktop that works 99% of the time.

The app I've installed has a full CI/CD pipeline and it's ready to scale on demand. I don't know if I've been this excited about anything in my career since I learned Linux in college.

It's super satisfying to use infra-as-code to replicate stuff and then watch it all fall into place the first time. Kubernetes + external-dns + cert-manager + helm is like, the dream to me. I install an app and the system takes care of the rest. Stuff that took days now takes minutes.

I think my favorite thing about the fediverse so far is (this is going to maybe sound really obvious) how things are separated into generalized topics. I always said, at least if you are using 3rd party apps, that twitter is whatever you make it by choosing who you follow. This platform provides much better tools to both implicitly and explicitly customize what you see. Tbh, I could basically just stick to fosstodon’s local timeline and get greater than 75% of what I used twitter for.

Love that GitHub Actions exists, hate that it disables automatic builds unless you push new updates. Worse is that even if you do submit new code you have to manually enable the Action and then push new code again 🤦

Hi! mastodon.social is being slow right now, as far as I can tell because there's twice as many people using it at the same time as ever have; I'm working on making it go fast again, but in the meantime, do remember to invite people to joinmastodon.org instead of directly to mastodon.social. People don't have to be on the same server to follow you! Thanks!

mastodon.social feels a bit slower right now that usual 😂

Also discovered today that if I ask an Alexa to play music using Plex it will stream it outside the house to AWS and back to the unit.
