black friday doesnt make sense

The thing about Black Friday that I increasingly don't understand is that it seems to me that

1. Sales are to encourage people to buy when they otherwise aren't in the frame of mind too

2. Everyone is in the frame of mind to buy on Black Friday because of relentless marketing

3. Why would companies actually offer significant deals on Black Friday then?

(It seems like they don't, or offer really low volume good sales)

@Alonealastalovedalongthe Because it's a total scam and the sheer volume of people makes up for any losses. It's a manufactured ploy to get people to spend money on stuff they don't need. (Go figure, huh?) The "wonders" of consumerism in action.
