Darf gerne so weitermachen!

Reminder: If you are knowledgeable about something (and you are!), you are in a position to help people. If you have the spoons/energy/capacity, post it to your timeline occasionally!
Maybe pin it to your profile? Or we could find a good hashtag for this?

@gairsty This seems like a neat project to get started:

I just found it when I read your toot, so I can't recommend it from experience, but it seems to be serious...but please do check for your own before using it. Maybe somebody else knows of it?
EDIT: Dang, didn't see the post from @Matter until now, leaving it here anyway...

IPFS is an open source way to host files and share them around the web. As demand increases so does the speed of retrieving the content.

Does anybody else have the feeling that all the complaints of businesses about the GDPR just went away because they noticed that now that users have to consent, they can literally just collect any data they want? I have the feeling that it had a completey reversed effect to what they wanted to achieve...

This is a public service announcement: by saying "IT is crap because users still buy it" you are effectively blaming the victim.

There is a huge information and resources asymmetry between large companies creating software and hardware, and regular person who just wants their Internet-connected device to, you know, not do harm. Companies effectively made a business model out of that asymmetry.

We need education and regulation to make IT not crap.

One reason I love (and the majority of the ) is because most of the people here may disagree strongly with my thoughts, but more often than not people stay fairly respectable. I can call many of you (with whom I completely disagree on a very basic level) colleagues and friends. There is virtually no love-loss because of a disagreement.

It gives me hope for the future of humanity that there are so many polar opposites being excellent to each other!

Pretty awesome review from XDA about the Cosmo Communicator, a clamshell PDA that can run android or Linux or both.

whenever i see someone ask a question about computers that i feel is obvious, rather than saying READ THE MANUAL DO IT YOURSELF or HOW COULD YOU BE THIS UNINTELLIGENT i just explain how to do the thing, thus giving people a good experience with the community instead of making people associate linux users with smug, condescending, self-righteous asses

Hey guys, learned about this epic alternative to twitter from CCC. My first social network that I join, and happily! I'm really curious what will happen ;)
Thanks @fosstodon for providing this instance!
Just a few things about me: I'm a FOSS enthusiast (obviously!), I adore Linux and always strive for a deeper understanding of it, I am interested in infosec and cryptography and also care a lot about digital and analog games!
