@imyke @viticci @ismh86 Just listened to another episode of “Myke Was Right.” The generic term for plastics that Federico was searching for is “polymer.” Polycarbonate is a type of polymer, as are polystyrene, polyethylene, and polypropylene. (Not all polymers start with “poly-,” but many do.) Sadly, I don’t know offhand what type of polymer was used in the Performa cases, but I feel certain that information is floating around the internet.
@drdrang @imyke @viticci @ismh86 The original Macintosh had an ABS plastic case according to https://www.landsnail.com/apple/local/design/macintosh.html, and if I had to make an (uneducated) guess I’d say the Performas were probably ABS as well
@alexpadilla @imyke @viticci @ismh86 Makes sense. A well-established material with good mechanical properties.
