Is there an analog for #researchgate in the #Fediverse?
In a way, https://bookwyrm.social/ comes close to this. Bibliometric information like the number of citations might be taken from different sources like #openalex and #wikidata.
@devSJR @bonfire is working on it : https://bonfirenetworks.org/app/open-science/
It is not completely ready yet. They are looking for help. It does include bibliometric information from open sources.
@fresseng Thanks, this looks promising!
@fresseng @devSJR
yeah we also implemented a custom integration with @OpenAlex and @ORCID_Org ...here the demo we presented at the last #fediforum

@bonfire @fresseng @OpenAlex @ORCID_Org
Impressive!
@bonfire @fresseng @OpenAlex @ORCID_Org
The administrative labeling function presents an intriguing solution for managing predatory journals. It would provide a valuable resource for evaluating the credibility of papers outside one's area of expertise, which can often be a time-consuming and challenging task.
Reminder to myself. Update ORCID.
@devSJR Can you say more about what you like about #researchgate that you'd want in a new fediverse-compatible system? I think I'm struggling to understand because I see #researchgate as just a capitalist version of #scihub (just a big internet pile of PDFs) but I suspect I'm missing something since I'm not a frequent user
@da5nsy The answer is mostly answered by the actions taken by @bonfire
#researchgate basically enables users to talk about science (papers, conference announcements …). That's just about all I like about it.
Please look at their #openscience goals
