My only yellow flag seems to be my Logitech C922 HD webcam.
Works fine when plugged in directly into the PC USB port, but not when plugged into my display USB hub.
Surprisingly every other device plugged to the hub works fine; also does the webcam+hub work when connected to Linux, MacOS and Windows; just a FreeBSD thing.
It'll only be used a few hours a week for livestreaming through OBS, so totally not a deal breaker to switch ports whenever I go live.
@danirod This reminds me of my situation on the PS5. I don't know how much of that OS is still similar to BSD these days, but I have an issue with a USB microphone when plugged into a USB switch. I have a switch so I can use the mic with either PC or PS5 with the toggle of a button. The PS5 detects it as a headset, which means the PS5 won't let me use it at the same time as my actual headset.
@greypilgrim Yeah, it's these subtle bugs. It's not that it doesn't work, it just behaves wrong. It detects the cam and if I tweak the focus settings, I can see the lens moving. It just won't transfer video.
And I bet it wasn't initially obvious to discover that the issues are not related to the mic but to the switch too.
@danirod Oh, it was totally not obvious. For one, my setup worked fine on PS4. For two, my headset does have a mic, so when my USB mic wasn't being used, I didn't even know because my friends could still hear me. I found out because they could hear me yelling at children while I was AFK and the door was closed. (I had the headset on my neck.) 😊 🤦♂️
