Let's tell a story, hm? This one's from English history. It's the story of that celebrated King of England, King Louis.
What's that? You've never heard of a King Louis of England? Well, that's not surprising. You won't find him on any official list of English monarchs. He's been written out of history.
So let's talk a little about Louis, the king who never was. ( 🧵 )

Love this from @Downes musing on The Bava's recent blog post.

Much of the work I've done in my career has been co-opted by others who are hungrier for external measures of "success" than I am.
To share another closely related quotation:

Why did nobody tell me about Consent-O-Matic? It's a browser extension that automatically clicks on GDPR consent dialogs to indicate that you do not consent to your data being shared. Available for all major browsers.
Idk if I shared this already, but @dajbelshaw and I recently interviewed Heather Leson, an open source OG who has oodles of my respect. She's great, give it a listen here: https://soundcloud.com/tao-of-wao/s04-episode-04-open-impact
It was obvious that this was coming but it's still shocking. Audrey Watters is badass and the problem is we didn't listen to her.

On days like today, the thought of being potentially 25+ years from retirement feels like an endless ocean.
And then @oliverquinlan's newsletter comes along in which he casually mentions that we may be the first generation to live to 150+ years of age.
My first question would be "what age is retirement in such a scenario?" 😅
I'm guessing it's a security feature, but has anyone experiencing in turning *off* the feature where you can't record Loom videos (or otherwise screen record) a #Nextcloud instance?

I think it's naive to think that this racist, corrupt, xenophobic government wouldn't withdraw the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights. They've trial-ballooned it so many times in the right-wing press over the last decade.
Not. In. My. Name.
That is what I have always understood to be the essence of anarchism: the conviction that the burden of proof has to be placed on authority, and that it should be dismantled if that burden cannot be met.
