I installed some cheap mirror extenders on my Honda Grom, and it makes a world of difference. Now I can see behind myself without having to tuck my shoulders in!
Only issue is it seems to make the mirrors vibrate a little more. I don't mind, but I think they're going to need some locktight to keep them from rattling loose.
@dHeinemann i have been considering them for my z650 too, but am worried it will make it more dangerous to lane filter
@yuvipanda I suppose it's a possibility. The ones I bought only add a maximum of 3 cm (1.2 in) to each mirror, and you can set the width during installation - so you could set them shorter if you wanted.
In my case, the Grom is already very narrow so I set the extenders for maximum width.
These are the ones I bought. They seem to be available under a bunch of different brand names, so you should be able to find similar on your local Amazon or Ebay. https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B07WCTF529
@dHeinemann bar end mirrors perhaps? I installed a set on my triumph, along with bar end weights. My handle bar shimmer, with hands off, was reduced significantly.
@guyfleegman I've thought about it, and they sure look nicer than conventional mirrors. However, I like having the mirrors high up so that they're easier to see.
Incidentally, these mirror extenders made that even better too, by raising the mirrors about another 1.5 cm.
@dHeinemann the nice thing, and also the slightly bad thing, about the bar end mirrors is that they are wide angle. You can easily see everything, but you can’t tell if that car back there is a cop or not until it’s in top of you.
@guyfleegman I guess the advantage of riding a Grom is that I'll never have to worry about being pulled over for speeding.
@dHeinemann I’m sure you could manage to break the law in the city
@dHeinemann the original mirrors are bar end, but they caught a lot of air. And the look of the new ones, much better.
@guyfleegman Thanks for the photos, those new bar end mirrors look great! Reasonably high up too. I might try a set out in the future.
@dHeinemann the new ones are on top, just to clarify. The originals could get in the way on occasion, but new ones are much better. And they flip in if you need to get through a tight spot.
