@davep Is the barrel distortion in the photo (or whatever has the prop left of center of the aircraft, and the compass appearing to favor the right seater) the same in your headset?
Agree - How on earth were we so eager to sim-fly 4-bit 640x200 graphics, I will never understand ,
but I was doing the same number of hours in FS1 as today in X-Plane 11 with 4k orthographic satellite imagery.
@davep I see that even in my 2D view, the C172 prop looks slightly left of center and the compass pointing to the right slightly.
I admit to relying on the Garmin1000 for heading, so the compass is not really a bother, and as long as the prop keeps spinning I don't mind if it is in the rear...
@cyclical_obsessive In the headset everything looks 3D and very physical. Don't forget in the image here you're only going to be seeing one eye (this is recorded from the PC preview window, not the headset). I imagine the "distortion" is important to feeding each eye an image that tricks it into seeing physical depth.
@cyclical_obsessive 640x480 with any colour would have been amazing. My first flight sim was even worse. 😉
And I bloody loved it.
