The standalone #MNTReform keyboard is gorgeous (and satisfyingly dense). I much prefer the clicky white switches over the tactile browns (maybe not in a laptop though).
It's a nice aesthetic match for the #MiSTerFPGA I just started experimenting with. Many thanks to @mntmn and the MNT team for accommodating my request for #Colemak homing keys.
The #Keyboardio Model 100 with Linear A keycaps is in the back. It's also lovely, but not convenient as a roaming keyboard.
@csprng
Maybe I have to find a good piece of walnut wood to change my maple enclosure of the model-01. Good thing with open hardware is that the step files for the enclosure are available. I am using the travel case for every Tuesday when I do not work from home. The cost of buying a model-100 was too high compared to the inconvenience setting up the keyboard once a week.
@petejohanson @csprng we offered a "without keyswitches" version for a while but it had very low demand. would you like one of those?
@mntmn if that was directed at me: not really my cup of tea for the layout, and atmega means no ZMK to hack on it.
Are you able to work with LowProKB to just offer sunsets as an option? I imagine your buyers would be way happier being able to get that OOTB.
@petejohanson sorry, it is always hard for me to understand why people say that something "is a shame that it's not like such-and-such" if they're not talking about their own needs, i.e. don't actually intend to buy/use the thing that they nevertheless want to be changed in some way.
anyway, i hadn't heard about the sunset switches before. if they're that much better than browns, sure! i would have to try them first of course
@mntmn totally fair criticism of me chiming in with that. My intention was to express a wish that the OP could have tried another option that many folks enjoy, and perhaps been even happier with the experience than they clearly already were.
Definitely worth giving the sunsets a try. Their availability is a bit different since LowProKB (Darryl) invested a significant amount in R&D and mold costs to make them happen, so he's the exclusive vendor in NA, for instance.
@mntmn I would love to buy one without switches. Is it possible to get some in stock?
