I’m pretty happy with the refresh rate from the new FPGA board! 36 SPI buses each at 70 MHz driving 144 128x128 pixel LCDs, each inside a 3D printed keycap mounted on a mechanical keyboard switch. It’s nice and clacky!
New FPGA driver board and in-progress shots. The 9 flat flex connectors with 4 SPI buses each work like a charm. No SI issues yet, but I definitely don’t want to measure EMI on this beast. There’s room to spread the clocks over different phases if needed though.
@craigjb I want to try this out!! Come do a demo in Toronto...?
@craigjb does it also work as a hand warmer? ;)
@sol_hsa Yes, in fact, it does warm your hands . 20 watts of LED backlights will do that. It’s a… bonus feature!
@craigjb When I got a powerbook (oh god, 20 years ago already), it dried my hands so much that dry skin peeled off my fingers. Just a word of warning =)
@craigjb
That's awesome!
