@codemonkeymike They almost certainly will sell you the higher capacity version. From Dell land I know the battery they sell the laptop with is often not the best battery they sell for it.
@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org Only thing I can think... Batteries are heavy, filler plastic isn't. Doesn't make it right. Just... Might be an engineering decision, that, "makes sense."
@JigmeDatse it's a T14 with a full size Ethernet port. Totally not playing the weight weenie game here.
Totally is a cheap out. I just don't get why. Couldn't have saved that much
@codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org Yeah, looks to start at about 3lbs ... Adding another 0.5-1 oz of battery... Not going to make a difference for people looking to buy it.
@codemonkeymike They could also use that extra space for an hdd or sata ssd
@AnimeAndVisial right that too. That's what's so offensive. In a laptop space is precious. And this is what they did. Lol
@codemonkeymike Tooling to manufacture plastic casing is expensive. The most likely explanation is that they're reusing tooling to avoid waste and re-engineering effort to meet a particular price point.
