For people trying to de-google their phones, I just came across the e-foundation who sell phones with de-googled versions of android. e.foundation/. Unfortunately they don't seem to sell to Australia.

I've officially released my static HTML webpage using Jekyll and hosted by my email provider, Fastmail (for now).

Thanks to @hund @kev @chris @yarmo @mike for your own websites/blogs for inspiring me to take a few hours to get this setup and maybe start routinely blogging.

That said, I haven't blogged since my teenage angst years of Xanga/Live Journal...so we'll see how this goes.

Anyways, here's a link to the first post:

For the phone experts out there. What's the difference in terms of privacy between getting a pinephone/Librem 5 and formatting my samsung/pixel and putting a linux OS on it? I know there are kills switches on the other two but it seems this way I would still get stellar hardware without the tracking etc. And I realise I'd still be financially supporting samsung/google.

@chmod700 It's hard to go full foss, but the aim is to foss as much as possible. Whenever there's a foss solution for your problem, use it :)

So annoying that I finally refound my love for KDE only to find that for some reason KDE based distro's seem to freeze my system. But have landed on Linux Mint cinnamon edition and must say it's stable and very usable!

Hi all, I'm Nick, love Linux, love FOSS, though am wondering how realistic it is to go full FOSS. Finally moved away from gmail successfully to mailbox.org but found I still went back for google drive/docs since I can't find a privacy alternative that compares. Anyway, look forward to chatting on here.

Day 95 of the Series:

I've recently started using Fedora 33 :fedora:, and with an almost perfect Gnome desktop (IMHO) I thought I'd share some of the ways I make it just a little bit more perfect for me personally.
