My trusty old #odroidc1. Have to retire the board though. Linux 3.10 is simply to old for any of the future topics I'm interested in.
He has been running #pihole for the last 5 to 6 years with only 2 sdhc cards. I changed the card just as a preventative measure halfway through. So, pretty solid performance.
@chairraver Happy to hear you are considering giving it a second try!
Well, since support for your board is mainlined you should have quite many options now.
Of course, hardware support in mainline always varies, but especially many dated boards often get quite mature over time.
In case you had something less edgy than Arch like Debian/Devuan in mind, you can also try my tutorial for running the official stable distro with a recent, packaged kernel:
@kuleszdl Actually I visited the linux-meson some time in the past. At that time the "support" table was significantly less "ok" for the S805. Anyway after having studied the support table some more, I'm pretty sure I'm going to to order an Odroid C4 in the not too distant future. Pretty nice article about Debian/Devuan BTW.
@chairraver Thank you!
I also have a meson-board (Khadas VIM 2 Pro) but never found enough time to play with it. I had problems compiling u-boot for it so I switched to other platforms with which I'm more familiar.
I also had #archlinuxarm running on an old pogoplug (the oxnas-based one with the problematic kernel) in the past, but found it too unstable for a server, even before they official removed support for it. Interestingly, I recently found out that #openwrt still has support for it.
