I don't like the cold, but I guess it's okay when my code is there! 🤔

Quick question for the @debian and folks. Seems like debian is using preseed and Ubuntu moved to cloud-init for automated installations. Is there really no common but nevertheless also future-proof solution for the two systems?

The @PINE64 may be the turning point that allows mobile users to have a desired OS without dependence on proprietary drivers. Read more about this inspirational story & why a port of @opensuse looked like an attractive alternative -

Is anybody in my timeline managing /s with Salt in a big scale? Is anything missing? I know, there is a @gnome module. But is that enough? I’m asking, because I’m clueless and this topic came up lately and I asked myself if Salt isn’t already perfectly fine for that.

When your computer lab is below ground level and you have 35 l/m² rain, then you might need to have a strategy! Could be the most simple one, but you need one.

Holy shit, the EU just created a standard that tells you how (un)repairable products are, from A (best) to E (worst).

I think I've never experienced 35 l/m² in Germany. For scale: It's approximately a garage, the tools room and additional parts of the basement full - while water in front of your garage rises up to 30cm and comes in through even the smallest spaces.

I've been playing with libs written in the last two days and I see great potential. Speed, even with many context switches, is great and I haven't even touched concurrency, which is traditionally Python's week spot, yet. I think Python would benefit a lot from more Rust libs.
I've been using PyO3 and I was able to render Handlebar templates from a Python script in just one evening. Actually setting up Rust nightly took the most time. 😉

Isn't there an alternative to post/pre-(un)-install scripts? Kind of feels like the wild west and is totally unpredictable and irreproducible.

Cops pepper sprayed and arrested...their own senator. And yet people still don’t understand why we are protesting?!

Psst. For the previous #webboot demos, I've only used QEMU. That's cheating, right? So let's run it on the bare metal already!

Featuring @opensuse again, Leap 15.2 #KDE live ISO 🙂 - big kudos for the awesome work!

I'm running a full-blown #desktop right now, connected to Wi-Fi, playing a video from YouTube in Firefox, and streaming the audio to a Bluetooth module. This is the future as I expected it. \o/

Rediscovering the Small Web

"Today's web is mostly commercial. The smaller web of individuals has neither the resources nor the will to compete for visibility and audience the way the commercial web does"

Another great post by @neustadt - welcome to Mastodon by the way, a part of the new small web!
