I've also got part of the pick+drop working in real life too. And packaged that code up separately

For anyone interested in #FOSS and #robotics, I've started working with #ROS and #Gazebo simulator to model an Arduino Braccio arm.
I put together a package with everything needed to simulate pick+drop of an object. https://github.com/lots-of-things/braccio_moveit_gazebo
also wrote a little post about the https://bonkerfield.org/2020/08/braccio-moveit-gazebo/
I have reached the "writing a 4 chapter philosophical treatise on the nature of identity and why I exist" part of the pandemic.
record scratches, camera freezes, etc.
So how did I get here? well when @mike and @kev wrote about why they blog and then started #100DaysToOffload, I tried to write a quick summary of why I write a blog. But then that turned into why do I do anything, and the whole project snowballed, and 3ish weeks later I have described my "reasons."
For any grumpy hipsters like me who are still on the birdsite, I made a firefox extension that hides any tweet with more than 1000 likes or retweets.
Behold as all those annoying rehashed memes disappear from your timeline.
You can learn more and install Twitter for Hipster from here: https://bonkerfield.org/2020/05/twitter-for-hipster/
Are there any web/game developers who are into #burningman and would want to help me make an online black rock city?
I've started a demo that has multiplayer support for running around and text chat, and there's even a sunset, dust storms, and LEDs. For now, I've gotten started with a #firebase implementation (just because of no cost tier), but I'd like to run on FOSS.
I have a post that explains where I'm at now and how to access the demo site here: https://bonkerfield.org/2020/04/virtual-black-rock-city/
If you are interested to see how current AI tools can pass as human on social media, there is a new sub on reddit where we are building bots that reply to comments.
https://www.reddit.com/r/talkwithgpt2bots/
You can write comments and the bots will post replies. It's an interesting experiment to show just how convincing they are and their short-comings.
and it's working! at least for π¦ site. haven't had any mastodon activity to test yet. (reply if you want to field test software π)
i just joined #mastodon and noticed it's tough to find active people to follow. #trunk https://communitywiki.org/trunk has built themed lists, which are a great start, but many accounts are stale and there's a lot of clicking to navigate online.
so last night i played with #trunk's API and packaged up some filtering and automation into #python/#selenium so all i have to do is 1 click confirm. i put it on gh this morning for other #newbies like me. https://github.com/lots-of-things/pytrunk
i fancy myself a scientist, but really i just do math. but really i just program computers. but really i just type on a keyboard. but really i just wiggle my fingers.
