#Mastodon tip: You can follow hashtags and have them show up in your Home timeline! This really helps fill it up so it doesn't feel so quiet while following topics you are interested in. You do have to use the web or desktop client, the #MastodonApp seems to lack this feature but suddenly I have a much more useful timeline without having to find a bunch of people to follow!
