So many people saying they're switching from Firefox. Won't this only make the problem worse?
If you're switching to Brave or qutebrowser or UnGoogled Chromium or something, you're only strengthening Google's monopoly. If you're switching to a Webkit-based browser like Epiphany, you're shifting the monopoly towards Safari, whose parent company doesn't consider the Web a priority.
That Mozilla has bad management doesn't change the fact that Firefox is the most viable option for the open web.
There's some crazy internal US politics right now that threatens #OpenTechFund, who funded #LetsEncrypt, #CertBot, @torproject , #NoScript, TLS ESNI/ECH, #DNSPrivacyProj, #ReproducibleBuilds, #Wireguard, #DeltaChat, #OpenKeychain, #pypi, @guardianproject , @signalapp , and more. Looks like a couple proprietary software companies are trying to take over this #FreeSoftware money. Please sign on to the campaign to try to stop it: https://saveinternetfreedom.tech
I am so happy that I chose #Namecheap as my domain host.

Isn't it funny how within 24h the approach to #Keybase changed from "it's secure and awesomesauce, use it for everything!!1!" to "I just use it to share stuff but warn users not to do sensitive stuff there"?
No, actually it's not funny. Because it keeps happening:
1. a new shiny startup does X in an open source but centralized way
2. a lot of "experts" saying how great it is; some greybeards warn that it's centralized but nobody listens - it's so shiny and cool!

It's official - @mozilla@twitter.com is fully live on Matrix! http://exple.tive.org/blarg/2020/02/20/synchronous-messaging-were-live/ Helping get Mozilla going has been a lot of fun, and we'll see a lot of improvements to Riot's UX in the coming months based on their feedback (turns out they know quite a lot about FOSS usability :D)
In an effort to #degoogle your life, which one would you choose? 📱
LineageOS is an obvious one, so it is not listed, and the poll only takes 4 choices.
Over the last few days we've had constant requests to respond to @moxie@twitter.com's 'The ecosystem is moving' blog post & recent 36c3 talk - we've tried to articulate Matrix's viewpoint over at https://matrix.org/blog/2020/01/02/on-privacy-versus-freedom.
Tim Berners-Lee and the World Wide Web Foundation have made a "Contract to the Web". Are we seeing the first building blocks for the constitution of Internet being created?
