The public Signal server code was finally updated... and it seems they were hiding it to hide the unpopular cryptocurrency thing they just announced? Wtf?

I'm assuming some of the code they were fiddling with was non-free up to now...

@gamayun I don't think so. I think they just wanted to avoid the criticism about the feature before it was even implemented... Which isn't really okay either...

@gamayun @be Actually it kinda was, apparently up until this commit AGPL was improperly applied to the project, probably rendering many random files proprietrary (IANAL): You can see a decent number of files had _no_ copyright/licencing info whatsoever. If that's problematic for AGPL (which IIUC it is), this repository was only fully open sourced on 23 Oct 2020.
