I just read this piece about Mexican cartel gunmen fighting it out with homemade armored cars, just across the border.
And, the best rendition of Tot- Africa I have ever heard..
It is a must watch!
RT @firstname.lastname@example.org: So dramatic! Dude from the weather channel bracing for his life, as 2 dudes just stroll past. #HurricaneFlorence

One thing I'll say about Mastodon though: In some cases the UX is "bad" because the thing isn't designed to be frictionless above all other things, it has other priorities. Twitter and Facebook set a very high standard for how easy and frictionless it is to get on the platform and find your acquaintances there, but that's because they're roach motels - easy to get into, hard to leave, unconcerned with the well-being of the occupants.
If you use Debian: you're got getting the recent Intel CPU bugfixes because Intel updated the firmware package's license to state that it's not redistributable.
If use Linux other than Debian and have the bugfixes: ask your maintainers why they're distributing software they're not legally allowed to.
And in any case: next time you purchase a CPU, evaluate whether AMD might be a better choice than Intel.
The recent Intel debacles compel me to narcissistically share this interview I did with Colin Percival on hyperthreading problems back in 2005.
Folks told Intel this was a bad idea more than a decade ago. They did not fix their shit.
I've disabled HT on every machine ever since. They called me mad, but now I'm all "u mad?"
Theo's right. Disable HT all around.
A company that sells surveillance software to parents and employers left “terabytes of data” including photos, audio recordings, text messages and web history, exposed in a poorly-protected Amazon S3 bucket.
So, Valve just made gaming on Linux a whole lot easier.
They took Wine, fixed a couple of things, made it integrate into their steam client natively and released it as open source.
I only sort of understand the internet anymore
Fosstodon is an English speaking Mastodon instance that is open to anyone who is interested in technology; particularly free & open source software.
