What is the best "buddy" desktop OS to work alongside ?

I don't need super fancy "syncing" or anything, just curious what would feel best to compliment each other.

Decided on Fedora for now. We will see how things go.

(Think my upcoming post about getting Monterey working on my 2012 Mac Mini might need some alterations)

@tdarb Open Core Legacy patcher is working nicely AFAIK… there might be issues with Nvidia cards and recent macOS versions, but beside that it should be smooth sailing…

@appelgriebsch It worked for me perfectly with my MacBook Air 2011 and with the original HDD of this Mac Mini.

Once I swapped to SSD it gave me nothing but problems.

@tdarb yeah it somehow stores the boot device in the EFI so as soon as you swap it out you may have to reboot via an USB and reselect your boot device…(there might be an option for a boot menu at start, but not sure if that’s on by default)

@appelgriebsch Yeah I just redid the entire process again.

1. Internet recovery on the SSD back to Mavericks
2. Upgraded to Catalina
3. Popped in the Open Core Monterey USB and rebuilt Open Core
4. Booted off installer and followed instructions like before

Just wouldn't take, even after multiple reboots and following troubleshoot issues. Maybe it is the hardware? Who knows lol

@tdarb yeah that’s the „challenge“ with the Open Core Legacy patcher … at the end it’s a hack and you don’t know how long it will last… :(

@appelgriebsch Exactly. But it is a wonderful project and major kudos to everyone involved. I'm quite happy with the machines I own where it _has_ worked :)
